The East Carolina University Police Department reported it is investigating the death of a student in a residence hall that occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday.
No evidence suggested foul play, the department reported, although a cause of death was not released. The student’s name was withheld until his immediate family and close friends could be notified, a department news release said.
ECU officials have reported several student deaths on campus this year, including two possible suicides, an overdose, and a cardiac-related fatality during the first weeks of class. There also have been several suicide attempts, according to reports.
