Farmers’ market

The Leroy James Pitt County Farmers’ Market, 4560 County Home Road, will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will remain open during these hours on Saturdays in April. An Easter egg hunt will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. next door to the farmers’ market. Registration will take place between 10 and 10:30 a.m. The event is appropriate for children ages 4 to 8 years old and will feature raffles, prizes and an Easter bunny. Visit www.pittcountync.gov/599/Farmers-Market or follow the market on Facebook.

Humane Society

The Humane Society of Eastern North Carolina will kick off its summer dog washing fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Capital Subaru of Greenville, 3999 S. Memorial Drive. Services include baths, nail clipping and anal gland expression, and prices vary from $10-15 for each service. All pets must have a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate. All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society.

Veterans host bingo

The Veterans of Foreign Wars 7032 host bingo games every Saturday at the post headquarters, 1108 Mumford Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30 p.m. Call 758-3251 for information between 10 a.m. and noon daily.

Coming up

The Alice F. Keene Center, 4561 County Home Road, will be open for early voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m on weekdays through Friday. For a sample ballot or to find other polling locations, visit www.ncsbe.gov.

Long-term care resources

An event to inform seniors about financing long-term care at home will be held at 2 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 4551 County Home Road. This event is free, but space is limited. Call 752-1717 to register.

Citizen of the Year

The annual Citizen of the Year banquet is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at May-Lew Farm, 5130 W. Wilson St., Farmville. Tickets are $35 and available at Woodside Antiques or from any Citizen of the Year member. To become a banquet sponsor, call 531-0790. Applications to nominate a 2018 Citizen of the Year contender are available at Farmville Town Hall and Woodside Antiques.

Art show

An art show titled “The New ENC” will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the City Art Gallery, 511 Red Banks Road. Artists Ben Knight, Jordan Parah and Fen Rascoe will present their paintings and sculptures reflecting the evolving spirit of this region. Visitors should wear their best ENC attire. Craft fair

The St. Peter Creative Fellowship Craft Group will hold its Spring Craft Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2700 E. Fourth St. Items for sale include jewelry, pottery, art and other crafts from vendors. The event will also feature a bake sale, plant sale and used books.

Parkinson’s support

The Eastern N.C. Parkinson’s Support Group will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. on April 28 at Cypress Glen Retirement Community, 100 Hickory St. The speaker will be Sherri Winslow who will discuss “Communication Strategies for Patients with Parkinson’s disease.” New members are welcome to join the group at any time. Mental health

A first-aid course for adult mental health patients will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (sign-in at 8 a.m.) on April 30 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 107 Louis St. This free event is open to all members of the public who would like to learn skills that could help save lives and strengthen the community. All-school reunion

The Ninth Annual Belvoir-Falkland High School All-School Reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 4 in the Family Life Center of the Holly Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 755 Porter Road (N.C. 33), Belvoir. Cost is $20 and includes meal and entertainment. Deadline for registration and payment is on April 30.
