The Federal Emergency Management Agency will operate mobile registration intake centers in Grifton and Grimesland starting today through Wednesday, according to a news release.

Both centers will operate between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Grifton Fire Department, 6831 S. Highland Ave. Grifton, and 550 River St., Grimesland.

Residents who suffered losses due to Hurricane Florence may visit the centers to register for federal assistance or find out more information about the types of help and programs available.

Survivors of the hurricane are encouraged to update their status to ensure a timely inspection and keep their recovery on track.

To be eligible, the applicant must live in Pitt or one of the other counties that received a federal disaster declaration and have uninsured storm damage that occurred between Sept. 7 and Sept. 29, 2018.

Individuals with questions can call the disaster assistance helpline at 800-621- 3362 (voice, 711 or VRS) or 800-462-7585 (TTY).
