After a successful senior season with the J.H. Rose baseball team, which included a perfect 6-0 record and 1.52 ERA on the mound, Shane Rademacher is on to the next chapter of his life, preparing to play at Chowan University. Preps beat writer Jake Keator spoke with Rademacher about his time at Rose and his future.
Q: You recently graduated from Rose. What are your feelings knowing that part of your life is done and how your season went?
A: “I feel like I left it all out there and did the best I could for the team. It was a great season for me and my teammates.”
Q: Looking back on your time as a Rampant, will there be any moment that stands out?
A: “My sophomore year and getting called up to varsity, that was an awesome experience. This senior year will stand out as well. We had a really good team and had a fun year.”
Q: Why did you decide to sign with Chowan?
A: “They were really the only team that really gave me the opportunity and wanted me, so I decided to commit there and see how it works out.”
Q: Does that put a chip on your shoulder to want to go out and show other programs what they missed out on?
A: “It’s going to give me a chance to show other coaches and other people what they’re missing out on.”
Q: What part of your game do you want to improve before going off to school?
A: “I really want to improve my velocity off the mound. If I can get that up and work on some breaking balls, I feel like I can be really good.”
Q: If you could give advice to a younger pitcher on becoming a dominant force on the mound, what would you tell them?
A: “I’d just tell them you have to work hard and do everything right, just keep at it. That’s the main thing, just keep working hard and trying to get better.”
