Pitt County wrestlers compete at regionals

Multiple Pitt County high school wrestling teams competed in regional competitions Friday and Saturday.
North Pitt led the way in the 2-A East Regional, held at Croatan High School, finishing third out of 25 schools with 118 points.
Raheem Jones finished first at 182 pounds after defeating Kedar Darden of SouthWest Edgecombe by fall in 3:50. Dalton English (138) finished second after falling to Johnathan Ward in the finals by major decision, 16-4. Alex Espinosa-Johnson (195) and Khalil Everett (220) took third.
Ayden-Grifton finshed ninth with 84 points.
Landon Stocks (106) took home the top prize in his weight for the Chargers after defeating Eddie Leon of South Lenoir in overtime, 6-4 . Ray Darden (195) also finished first after defeating Walker Gladwell of Croatan by decision, 10-6. Mason Ross (152) finished second, while teammate Michael Dickins (145) took fourth.
Greene Central finished 18th overall with 26 points. Jared Fields (170) finished second for the Rams.
Farmville Central finished 25th with 3.5 points from its smaller, four-person squad.
In 3-A competition at Cleveland High School, D.H. Conley finished 11th with 62 points.
Ethan Lenyszyn (113) finished third after defeating Johnathan Salazar of Southern Nash via decision, 6-4, while Reed Chandler (220) took third after defeating Manuel Jaurequi of West Carteret by fall in 2:21. Troy Weaver (170) finished fourth.
J.H. Rose finished 14th as a team with 47 points. Phifer Ozimek (132) took home first place after defeating Tyler Kent of West Carteret by decision, 7-5. Drew Sisk (138) finished second.
South Central finished 13th out of 20 teams in the 4-A East Regional.
The Falcons were led by senior Jerrell Belcher (220), who took home the gold after downing Jeffery Palmer of Corinth Holders by technical fall in 3:27. George Ayino (285) finished second in his weight class.
