Slugger Spencer Brickhouse joined two East Carolina baseball teammates this week to give the Pirates three All-Americans in the same season for the first time since 2004, when four Pirates earned All-America status.

The Pirates have had an All-American on their team every year dating back to 2013.

Utility player Alec Burleson was named a first-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association, which also gave ECU pitcher Jake Agnos a second-team nod. Brickhouse, a first baseman, earned a second-team All-America selection on the inaugural College Baseball Foundation squad.

Agnos and Brickhouse were part of five Pirate juniors who were selected in the Major League Baseball draft and are slated to begin their professional careers.

Burleson, who led ECU in batting average this year as a sophomore with a .370 average to go with 61 RBIs, is playing for the Bourne Braves in the prestigious summer Cape Cod League.

Agnos, a fourth round pick by the New York Yankees after earning American Athletic Conference pitcher of the year, is a first-team academic All-American who also has been named a first-team All-American by two publications. He is the second Pirate to earn inclusion on six All-America teams, joining outfielder Bryant Packard who had an ECU-best seven in 2018.

The left-handed pitcher posted an 11-3 record and 2.29 ERA in his final collegiate season.

Brickhouse, who already has signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks, batted .335 with 14 home runs and 65 RBIs in his junior campaign. He led the Pirates with a .467 on-base percentage.

Women's schedule

East Carolina's first women's basketball season under coach Kim McNeill will include home-and-home American Athletic Conference matchups against Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulsa and Wichita State.

The Pirates have home-only games against Connecticut, Temple and Tulane. The matchup against national powerhouse UConn will mark ECU's first time hosting the Huskies since the 2017-18 season. ECU will travel to UCF, Cincinnati and South Florida.

ECU signed five newcomers and has eight returning players from last season's team that finished 16-15. Returnees include Raven Johnson and guard Lashonda Monk, who set a new conference single-season record with 116 steals.

The team's complete schedule will be released on a later date.

Ninety-four points, zero wins.

East Carolina’s football team was dealt that harsh reality in its first two games of November, scoring 43 in a three-point loss to Cincinnati at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and then on Saturday producing even more points — 51 — but also allowing more in a…

Let's expand this exercise, for one week, to include South Carolina. The Battle for The Carolinas.

Clemson, obviously, would be No. 1. South Carolina would be fourth thanks to its win over Georgia.

No. 2? Appalachian State, which would own road victories over No. 3 North Carolina and fourth-ranked…
