A man was stabbed at a gathering on Chestnut Street on Saturday and later died from his injuries, the Greenville Police Department reported.

Lamont Junior Parker, 37, of Rocky Mount, was stabbed shortly before 6 p.m. at 1105-A Chestnut St. in west Greenville, a news release issued by the department on Sunday said.

Responding officers found Parker suffering from stab wounds when they arrived. Parker was transported to Vidant Medical Center, where he later succumbed from his injuries.

The release said it appears Parker was attending the gathering when a dispute erupted. The dispute turned into a physical altercation during which Parker was stabbed, the release said.
