Man charged with DWI after vehicle runs off road, overturns

A Greenville man was charged with driving while impaired after he ran off the road, overcorrected, crossed the centerline and overturned according to a weekly review of Pitt County court records.
John Carlo Giambelluca, 25, of 7520 Peggy Drive, Clemmons, was stopped by the North Carolina Highway Patrol after he ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, crossed the centerline, ran off the road to the left and overturned in a field near U.S 264 and Stantonsburg Road around 6:36 p.m. on Oct. 30.
His 2018 Toyota was traveling at 45 mph at the time of impact and his vehicle traveled 129 feet after the crash. His SUV sustained $40,000 in damages.
He was charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger and failure to maintain lane control.
A trooper’s affidavit noted Giambelluca was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, was incoherent and could not stop talking. He also admitted to taking medication and did not know where he was. His blood alcohol level was unavailable.
Giambelluca was among 15 people charged with driving while impaired according to court records and law enforcement reports available between Oct. 21 and Nov. 4. In the other cases, court documents indicate:
■ Bernado Escobar, 34, of 3423 Highland Drive, Farmville, was stopped at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 28 near U.S. 258 and Allen Gay Road near Fountain by the State Highway Patrol. He had a strong odor of alcohol and an open container in the vehicle and had marijuana in his possession. He refused a breathalyzer test.
■ Rodney Carroll Greene Jr, 60, of 1803 Robert Drive, was stopped at 9:23 p.m. on Oct. 22, near Old River Road and Barrus Construction Road by the State Highway Patrol. He had red, glassy eyes, and a slurred speech. His blood alcohol level was not available. He refused a breathalyzer.
■ Cameron Joseph Grimsley, 31, of 477 1st Street Ayden, was stopped at 10:40 p.m. on Oct. 27 near Old Tar Road and Laurie Ellis Road by the Winterville Police Department. He had a moderate odor of alcohol on his breath, glassy, watery eyes and slurred speech. His blood alcohol level was 0.08.
■ Jairus Brandon Jones, 41, of 359 N. Respess St., Washington, was stopped at 7:11 p.m. on Oct. 27, near U.S. 264 and N.C. 43 by the State Highway Patrol. He was involved in a wreck and admitted to drinking tequila before driving. He had red, glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and was unsteady on his feet. His blood alcohol was 0.12.
■ Tyshon Maurice Kittrell,27, of 16 Concord Drive, was stopped at 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 21 near N.C. 11 and Mill Street by the Winterville Police Department. He had a moderate odor of alcohol on his breath, watery eyes, and admitted to drinking. His blood alcohol level was unavailable.
■ Conner Elizabeth Kubasek, 21, of 1835 Rosemont Drive, was stopped at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 3, near East Arlington Boulevard and Fire Tower Road by the Greenville Police Department. She had glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. Her blood alcohol level was not available.
■ Nicholas Charles Luderman, 21, of 10115 County Road, Hamler, Ohio, was stopped at 1:16 a.m. on Nov. 4 near Cotanche and East Fourth Street by the Greenville Police Department. He had glassy eyes and his blood alcohol level was 0.20.
■ Deshawn Lamont Moore, 30, of 1303 Bernice Lane, was stopped at 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 28 near U.S. 264 Alternate and Allen Road by the State Highway Patrol. He ran over a curb and was found passed out behind the wheel. He smelled strongly of alcohol, had red, glassy eyes and an open container in the vehicle. His blood alcohol level was 0.20.
■ Marquis Tarell Moore, 32, of 1208 Allen Road, was stopped at 12:19 a.m.on Nov.4 near Fire Tower Road and Old Tar Road by the Winterville Police Department. He was going 58 mph in a 45 mph zone and the officer noticed he had an odor of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was 0.18
■ Christopher Lance Parker, 40, of 725 Thomas Street, was stopped at 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 3 near U.S. 264 Alternate and Elm Street by the State Highway Patrol. He had red, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. His blood alcohol level was 0.14.
■ Jasper Leroy Payton, 75, of 1728 Anderson Road, was stopped at 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 26 near Kinsaul-Willoughby Road and Stantonsburg Road by the State Highway Patrol. He was involved in a crash and sideswiped another vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt and had admitted to drinking alcohol. His blood alcohol level was 0.15.
■ Michael Anthony Simmons, 26, of 3216 Summer Place Apartments, was stopped shortly after 2 a.m. on Oct. 27, near Jones Street and Main Street by the Winterville Police Department. He had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and admitted to drinking. His blood alcohol was not available.
■ Paul Anthony Smith, 33, of 92 Truman Street, New Haven, Conn., was stopped at 9:33 p.m. on Oct. 20, near Primrose and Ange Drive by the Winterville Police Department. He had a strong odor of alcohol, red, glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet. His blood alcohol level was 0.17.
■ Malia Cheyenne Yanez, 21, of 5230 N.C. 43, Hollister, was stopped at 12:50 a.m. on Oct. 21 near East Fifth Street and Cotanche Street by the Greenville Police Department. She had red, glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and was involved in a wreck. Her blood alcohol level was 0.18.
